Finalist for 2010 AGC of St. Louis Keystone Award
MC Industrial’s ConocoPhillips Wood River Refinery Wastewater Treatment Upgrade is a finalist for a 2010 AGC of St. Louis Keystone Award. Winners will be announced November 3, 2010.
The Keystone Awards are presented annually by the St. Louis Chapter of the AGC and recognize the region’s best construction projects. This year 64 projects were entered in thirteen categories. The MC Industrial team is a finalist in the “General contractor/industrial construction project under $40 million category.”
“We are tremendously proud of our team and its accomplishment of the ConcoPhillips wastewater treatment facility update,” said MC Industrial Project Director Grant Guerri. “Despite enduring challenging conditions and adhering to stringent safety regulations, the team and subcontractors worked without a recordable injury.”
The ConocoPhillips wastewater plant completion was a high priority for the owner due to the EPA Consent Decree. Any delays would have greatly impacted the coker and refinery expansion (CORE) project.
The solids handling equipment and wastewater treatment plant ultimately improved the quality of the water leaving the facility including advanced technology to remove nitrates from the water. The wastewater treatment plant upgrade allows the refinery to meet the local demand for fuel and to provide fuel products that meet clean air regulations. In addition, the local community benefits from cleaner air.
