Dallman Station Upgrade in Illinois Awarded


Dallman Station UpgradeMC Industrial recently was awarded the Springfield, Illinois City Water Light & Power $18.5 million Dallman Station Unit 33 Flue Gas Desulphurization Upgrade. MC Industrial will serve as general contractor for the project, which when completed will increase Unit 33 SO2 removal efficiency from about 93-94 percent using additive to 98 percent without using additive.

The work scope includes modifications on two existing scrubber towers and installation of new booster fans together with foundations.  Additional work includes: removing, refurbishing and reinstalling six slurry pumps; replacing rubber lined carbon steel slurry piping with fiberglass piping; and removal and replacement of approximately 60,000 square feet of building siding and associated electrical and controls.

Construction will begin January 2011 with completion in November 2011. 

Black & Veatch is the owner’s engineer on the project.  Other major contractors on the project include Northwest Mechanical of Davenport, Iowa, Schneider Electric of St. Louis, G&L Associates of Des Plaines, Ill., Aetna Coatings of St. Louis, and Triangle Insulation of Paducah, Ky.
